Crystal Ann Boylan

Surrounded by her family, Crystal "Chris" Boylan passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 at her home in Rush City, MN at the age of 70.

Crystal Ann Horton was born September 18, 1955 to Elvin and LaVonne "Bonnie" (Spencer) Horton in Park Rapids, MN. She graduated with high honors from Pine City High School, Class of 1973. Crystal was united in marriage with James Boylan on February 12, 1996 in Pine City, MN and raised two daughters, Kelly and Karla.

Crystal spent many hours cross-stitching, sewing, and painting Christmas villages, ornaments, and décor for her family and friends to enjoy for years to come. She enjoyed over a decade of trail riding snowmobile trips in northern Minnesota, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and the Black Hills of South Dakota. She was a very strong willed, stubborn and hard-working woman. She worked many years at Benny Machine in Cambridge, Pizza Pub in Pine City, Aunt Jane’s Café in Pine City, and Rock Creek Motor Stop in Rock Creek, MN.

Crystal is survived by her devoted husband James Boylan; father Elvin Horton; daughters Kelly Jylka and Karla Davidson; grandchildren Anika Jylka, Dylan (Tessa) Davidson, Lillian Davidson, Brody Davidson; great-grandson Colten Davidson; siblings Harlan (Tammy) Horton, Scott (Gayle) Currie, Phil Currie, Merrill (Sandy) Currie, Dixie (Larry) Danielson, Marsha Horton; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother LaVonne "Bonnie" Kreamer; sister Lori Skelly; aunt Lenora Ann Strong; son-in-law Jeremy Jylka; poochie Beau D Puppers.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Crystal: 10 AM-2 PM; Saturday (1/17/2026) at Rushseba Town Hall, 51533 Forest Blvd., Rush City, MN.
