Crystal Holt Griffith, of League City, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at her home in League City at the age of 51.
Crystal was born on August 11, 1972, in Houston, Texas, to Charlene and Leslie Higgs, Jr. Along with her mother Charlene, Crystal was raised by and later adopted by Carroll A. "Cal" Holt. Having felt she earned it while growing up, Crystal took Cal's last name and later kept 'Holt' as her middle name upon marriage.
Crystal was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father Cal, and her stepsisters Connie Holt and Carolyn West. Crystal is survived by her husband, Aron Griffith, her two sons, Grant and Holt, and her mother, Charlene Holt.
Following her career as a paralegal, Crystal focused on her family, her friends, and her faith. Crystal was a loving wife, mother, and daughter, devoting herself to caring for her parents, her children, and her husband. When she was not working as a caregiver, health insurance navigator, driver, appointment maker, communicator, and overall helper for her family, Crystal also gave of her time to numerous school and local organizations and events. Her upbringing and career most certainly paved the way for her to pay attention to detail as she took charge of family needs and helped with activities.
Crystal was loved, not only by her family, but by her friends, who describe Crystal as compassionate, understanding, giving, kind, caring, a conversation starter but also an intent listener, among other admirable qualities she tried to instill in her children and evoke from her husband. Crystal had a knack for names, a heart for compassion, and she seemed to be able to find a way to relate to almost anyone.
Crystal cherished the friends she made in her neighborhood, commuting on the bus to work in downtown Houston, at church, during college, at the Delta Zeta sorority, at her parent's retirement community, and at the baseball fields. Crystal also cherished the many friends made at the hospitals and those met through various organizations for kids with cancer. Crystal especially loved the many wonderful women of the MOMS Club and their families. Crystal found much joy in the many friendships that grew over the years starting from these shared experiences.
The love shown to Crystal throughout the years and during her last months, by all of those she heartened and knew, will help our family cope with her loss.
Crystal requested her life to be celebrated in League City by all those wanting to, and that she later be buried during a small family service at the family plot in Morton Cemetery, Richmond, Texas. A Celebration of Life for Crystal will be held at the 528 Campus of Clear Creek Community Church (4201 FM 528, Friendswood, Texas, 77546) on March 8, 2024 at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to one or a number of organizations that supported our family throughout the years would be greatly appreciated: The Sunshine Kids Foundation, The Periwinkle Foundation, Kids Unlimited, Candlelighters, B.I.G. LOVE Cancer Care Services, and Joseph's Warriors, to name a few, or another charity of your choice that supports cancer research and/or provides support to families going through cancer treatment.
