Crystal L Parrott
May 4, 1980 – July 28, 2024
La Grange – Crystal L Parrott breathed her last breath and received her ultimate healing on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Duke Hospital. Crystal was born in Lenoir County on May 4, 1980 to Judy Smith Parrott and the late Harvey Lee Parrott. She was married to the late Chuck Wackerman.
Crystal enjoyed life, dancing and spending time with family and friends. At the age of 10, she was diagnosed with a major illness, but this did not stop her. She was a determined young lady who pushed through many obstacles which would have stopped others. Her tenacity and her ability to smile through the pain was admired by all who spent time with Crystal. She was kind and loving, drawing others to her. Those who helped to care for Crystal found themselves leaving better because of the time spent with her.
Crystal lived out her faith. While she was able, she participated in worship. As her health declined, her faith grew stronger. This helped to guide her through the toughest days.
There were two very special places in Crystal's life. The first was the beach. This was a place of peace and comfort for her. The salt air and the beautiful ocean brought joy to her heart on any challenging day. The second was spent at home with her great-nieces by her side, bowl of popcorn in-hand, and a movie on the television. It was even better if there were crafts involved. Their presence was a light, no matter what may be going on.
Crystal not only completed her high school diploma, but went on to achieve her Associates Degree. She was a health care worker for the special needs population. Later in her life, she was a caretaker for her husband, Chuck, when his health failed. Crystal was loving and caring in so many ways.
Through the last few months, Crystal fought with all she had at Duke Hospital. Her care team at Duke took extra good care of her and became family. They helped to make a heavy time brighter and more fulfilling. Crystal's family is overwhelmed with gratitude for the compassion they all felt daily.
A Graveside Service to remember Crystal will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, 2:00 pm at Fairview Cemetery, with visitation to follow. Anyone wishing to pay their respects to Crystal can do so at Rouse Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 between 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
Crystal is survived by her mother, Judy Parrott; sister, Wendy Parrott Taylor (Gene); nieces, Tonya Taylor and Kayla Taylor Riley; great-nephew, Gage Allen; great-nieces, Ava Riley and Reagan Riley; and special aunts, Linda Sutton and Vicky Jordan.
