Cullen Heden Durand

Cullen Heden “Cully” Durand, 18, of Moorhead, MN, passed away after a lifelong battle with 4-H leukodystrophy, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in his home in Moorhead, MN, surrounded by his loving family.

Cully was born on June 25, 2007, in Fargo, ND, to Chad and Heidi (Heden) Durand. He grew up in Moorhead where he lived his entire life. He was a lifelong sports fan and was as competitive as they come. He was a Denver Broncos Superfan and loved to watch Blue Devils Basketball. He was a proud Spuds fan to his core and could be found courtside of every game when his dad coached the team. He was also a member of the Moorhead adaptive bowling team.

Cully had a great sense of humor with an infectious smile, a unique giggle and laugh that lit up the room. He loved playing practical pranks on his nurses and his teachers! He enjoyed watching silly animal videos or listening to his dad tell silly animal stories which would showcase his contagious belly laugh.

Cully had an exceptional care team at his school and always felt loved, welcomed, and never afraid to go to class. He furiously loved his classmates and his teachers, and especially loved partaking in the middle school adaptive orchestra.

Cully will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cully’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the extra special care given to him by his in-home nurse, Heather, and his school nurses, Allie, Becki, Erin, Liz, and Jill. His family appreciates their professionalism and always making him feel happy, comfortable, and special.

Cully is survived by his loving parents, Heidi and Chad Durand; brothers, Carson Durand and Oliver Durand; beloved pets, Otis and Milo; aunts and uncles, Doyle (Carmen) Heden, Derek (Lisa) Heden, Holly Heden, Shelly (Brad) Grochow, and Susie (Randy) Laurin; cousins, Hedda Heden, Michael Heden, Emma and Allyson Schlapkohl, and Brady and Jenna Laurin; and grandparents, Doyle, Sr. and Lois Heden; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gary and Diane Durand.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Moorhead High School Gymnasium, Moorhead, MN. For those attending Cully's service, the family asks you either wear your blue "Team Durand" t-shirts or wear anything blue or orange.
