Curtis Ashton Alex, age 52, passed away on March 4, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Curtis was born in Perry, Iowa on July 30, 1971. Curtis resided in Salem, New Mexico with his amazing partner. Curtis fought a short but courageous battle with CNS diffuse large B cell lymphoma.
Curtis was a commercial diver for over 25 years. Curtis logged over 6500 underwater hours. Curtis was the vacuum plant supervisor for Spinlaunch for over 2 1/2 years. Curtis also served in the US Army for four years as an Airborne medic.
Curtis is survived by his two daughters: Shelbi Alex and Ashlin Alex. Curtis is also survived by his sister Nicole Alex, his twin sister, Heather Cozine (Daniel), his half-brother, Jeff Alex (Holly) and stepbrother, Dean Guenther (Giana). Curtis is also survived by his partner Kamolparn Tik Higgins. Curtis was a proud grandpa to Ezra Alex Abera, Rowan Austin Rosander and Sebastian Ray Keelin. Curtis was an amazing uncle to Sean Cozine (Alea), Claire Daly, Taylor Cozine (Jasmine), Auna Gunter (Brendon),and Liam Daly.
Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Kae Guenther, his father Gary Alex, his stepfather, Dean Guenther Sr, his stepsister, Amy Patterson, and his brother-in-law, Mark Daly. Curtis leaves behind his cherished fur babies: Chocolate, Cadbury and Hershey.
Curtis touched many lives and will be truly missed by his friends and family. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
