Roger Harry Ruth

Roger Harry Ruth, 81, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 12th, 2026.

He was born March 8th, 1944, to Herbert and Mary Ruth in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1955 where he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in health education from the University of New Mexico in 1970.

Roger married the love of his life, Ilona, on July 27th, 1973. He led a full and beautiful life serving his Lord alongside his wife and children. He spent many years working with the Kairos Prison ministry program through his church.

In the last few years of his life, he spent a lot of time at Sage Senior Center playing train dominoes and doing aerobics 3 times a week. He was a much-loved member of the group of friends he made there.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ilona. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah and husband Jeffry Paulus of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, and Kimberly and husband Christopher Young of Las Cruces, New Mexico; grandchildren Xavier, Alexander and Nikolas Paulus, Kaitlyn, Arianna and Brianna Young, and Shanna (Tyler) Colley.

There will be a Celebration of Life at University Presbyterian Church, 2010 Wisconsin Ave. on February 25th. Viewing will be at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
