Curtis D. (Treeman) Bursey was born on July 10, 1950 in Wayne, Arkansas to the late Harrison Bursey, Sr., and Elizabeth Mae Bursey. He moved to Michigan at a young age in 1972 and confessed his faith in Christ at Morning Star Baptist Church during a tent revival, where he was baptized.
Curtis was a previous employee of Chrysler Corporation, however, his passion was in building and landscaping. He was effectionately known by many in Michigan and Tennessee as "Tree Man", and was the best tree climber and cutter who ever lived. There was no tree too big that he could not climb and make fall exactly where he wanted it to. He shared his knowledge and skills with others, teaching them to be successful in building and landscaping.
Curtis loved his family and knew the exact date of everyone's birthday. Things we would sometimes forget, he remembered with love and compassion. He was also pretty good in the kitchen cooking, and loved sharing what he had with others.
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents; Harrison Bursey, Sr., and Elizabeth Mae Bursey, his brothers; Elbert, William, C.J., W.C. Harrison, Jr., Aaron, Isaiah, his sisters; Annie Mae, Clevie Mae, Ruthie Mae and Roxianne.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Nyreen White, Matthew Bursey and Curtis Neal, his siblings; Early Bursey, Robert Bursey, Olevia Frazier-Ford, Freddy Bursey, Emma Harris and a host of very special nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and expressions of love and kindness.
PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan.
As a global concern about Coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to have a impact on our community, we are taking steps necessary to ensure the safety of the families we serve and the community in general. Some families are making the decision to postpone services while others have opted to move forward with a small gathering of close family and friends.
It is Cobb's Funeral Home policy, which lines up with the restrictions of our governor, Gretchen Whitmer, that all gatherings are limited to 10 people with a distance of 6 feet.
May God continue to bless and strengthen all of you during this time.
