Obituary of Curtis Allen Edgar
Curtis Allen Edgar – A Celebration of Life service for Curtis Allen Edgar, 80, of Lexington, will be planned and held by the family with a full military burial planned at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC.
Curtis passed away suddenly on February 28, 2024, at Agape Care in Lexington. Born in Mason City, Iowa, he was the son of the late Roland Edgar and Bonnie Alitz. Curtis graduated from North Central High School in Manly, Iowa in 1961, and served as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army for 20 years and then as a Government Civilian an additional 22 years after his military retirement. In his earlier years he enjoyed basketball, Volksmarching and collecting coins and Biersteins during his many years stationed in Germany.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helga Mark; sons, Michael (Hilary) and Brian and daughters, Claudia and Jennifer. His grandchildren are Madison, Tyler (Micaela), Brendan, Auston, Breelan and Rory; and great grandchild, Grace. His siblings in Iowa are Karen, Beverly, Pat and Jay; his sister, Merri predeceased him. Curt's family in Iowa also includes a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank family and friends for their love and support throughout the years as Curt struggled with Alzheimer's. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to The Alzheimer's Association (https://act.alz.org/).
