Curtis Johns, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Dublin, Georgia, on the evening of October 23, 2025, with his devoted wife, Jannes Passmore Johns, by his side. He had been under the compassionate care of hospice in his final days and a special thanks to them for all their help.
Born and raised in Dodge County, Georgia, Curtis was the son of the late Frank and Vienna White Johns. He was a proud and hardworking man who retired from the Laurens County Board of Education, where he worked in Maintenance. Known as a jack of all trades, Curtis possessed a remarkable talent for fixing and building-there was little he couldn't do with his hands. His skill, creativity, and dedication to his faith and his Lord Jesus Christ made him a respected figure among family, friends, and coworkers. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Dublin.
Curtis was preceded in death by his late son, Aaron Tony Johns of Dublin. He was an adopted grandparent to Alice, MaKenzleigh, and Aidan Needer. His sibling are as follows: the late Qunnon Johns (the late Jackie Johns) of Eastman; the late Sarah Johns of Dodge County; the late Colleen Ware (the late George Ware) of Dublin; the late Thelma Knowles (the late James Knowles) of Dublin; the late Frank James Jr. of McRae; the late Bobbie Pittman (the late R.J. Pittman) of Eastman; and the late Clifton Johns of Dodge County.
He had several brother and sister in laws as well to include: the late Tina Smith of Dublin; Mary Cordell (the late Wally Cordell) of Florida; Walter Passmore (the late Gail Passmore) of Dublin; Cathy Knowles (the late Robert Passmore) of Harrison, GA; the late Randy Passmore (the late Allison Passmore) of Dublin; Ovid A. Passmore, Jr (Ronnie) of Colorado. Curtis also had several nieces and nephews as well as lots of great nieces and great nephews that really loved him as well.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, October 26, 2025 at the Charity Baptist Church with burial to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jim Fennell and Rev. Tim Powell will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Lee Veal, Lynn Mullis, Tanner Bush, Terry Shepherd, Baron Powell and Glen Needer.
