Curtis King Sr., of Abilene, Texas, passed away on January 22, 2026, in Abilene.
Curtis was born in Cameron, Texas, and moved to Abilene at an early age, where he was raised and educated. He attended Abilene High School and remained a proud and active member of the Abilene community throughout his life.
Curtis had a deep love for cooking and dedicated many years to working as a professional chef. He was employed at the Kettle Restaurant and later served as the chef at Embassy Suites, where his talent and passion for food were well known. Cooking was more than a career-it was something he truly enjoyed and used to bring people together.
In his spare time, Curtis enjoyed fishing, BBQing, and working on cars, hobbies that reflected his hands-on nature and love for simple joys.
Above all, Curtis was a devoted Minister of the Gospel who loved spreading God's Word. He was a faithful member and minister at Praise Temple Church of God in Christ, serving with dedication, humility, and a sincere love for people. His faith and ministry touched many lives and will continue to be remembered.
Curtis is survived by his children:Curtis King Jr. (Yvette) of Fort Worth, Texas; Asha Nyame (Frankie Lee Lowry Jr.) of Abilene, Texas; Shaneca King of Abilene, Texas; Quentin King of Abilene, Texas.
He is also survived by his siblings: Brothers Bobby King Sr. (Latanya) of Abilene, Texas; Otis King of Abilene, Texas; Ray Charles King of Houston, Texas; Sisters Nora Smith of Abilene, Texas; Elizabeth Gatson of Abilene, Texas; Odell Mathis of Houston, Texas.
Curtis was preceded in death by his wife Loveta King, siblings: Evelyn Traylor, Lulu Hunter, Jane Garrett, Pearline King, Johnny Noel Thomason, Eli King, Gloria Young, Rosie White, James King, Ernest Hardin, and Vera Mae King-Moore.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Deliverance Community Church, with burial to follow at Elliott-Hamil Cemetery.
