Curtis Laval Stroud Sr., 65, a beloved husband father, and retired US Army serviceman, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi. He was born on October 11, 1958 to James and Barbara Stroud, in Charleston County, South Carolina. Curtis was a man of great character, known for his kindness and dedication to his loved ones.
Curtis had an illustrious military career that spanned several years. He proudly served in the US Army, dedicating his life to protecting and serving his country. His commitment and bravery garnered him the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him. Curtis's time in the military left an indelible mark on his life and shaped him into the honorable man he became. Curtis was united in marriage to Alice Stroud.
Curtis's children held a special place in his heart. He was a loving father to three sons: Curtis Laval Stroud Jr., Anthony Tremayne Stroud, Christopher Stroud; and two daughters: Jaleesa Hendricks and Da'Sheika Hendricks. Curtis's role as a father went beyond providing for his children; he instilled in them values of integrity and kindness that will continue to resonate through future generations.
In addition to his immediate family members, Curtis leaves behind a network of friends who were touched by his warm spirit. His late mother Barbara Stroud held a special place in his heart, providing guidance and love throughout his life. Curtis also leaves behind three brothers: Frederick Stroud, Derrick Williams, Terrill Stroud; and Henry Canteen.
Services to honor Curtis Laval Stroud's life will take place at Belle Memorial Funeral Home located at 216 Hwy 25 South, PO Box 129, Aberdeen, Mississippi, 39730. The visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 19, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, beginning at 1:00 PM at the same location. These services provide an opportunity for family and friends to gather together, offering each other comfort and shared memories during this difficult time.
Curtis Laval Stroud will forever be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his honorable military service, and his warm and compassionate nature. He touched the lives of those around him with his kindness and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a significant impact on the lives of others and that his memory will continue to live on in our hearts.
