Curtis Glenn Wimer, age 78 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Monday, August 26, 2024, at his home. He had been in declining health, however death was unexpected.
He was born Tuesday, February 12, 1946, at Petersburg, WV, a son of the late Willie Clinton "Clint" Wimer and Ethel Jane Wimer. On November 1, 1975, at Sumit Point, WV, he was married to the former Sharon Lee Smallwood, who preceded him in death August 13, 2023. They had celebrated forty-seven years of marriage.
Surviving are one son, Paul Glenn Wimer of Parsons; two grandchildren, Regan Wimer and Robby Shupp and partner Mackenzie Lyons.
Preceding him in death August 29, 2019, is one son, Philip Clinton Wimer.
He was a graduate of Circleville High School, and a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Agricultural Education and Science. He was a teacher from 1972 to 1974 at Jefferson High School, from 1975 to 1977 at Parsons High School, and from 1978 until his retirement in 2012, he taught at Tucker County High School. He belonged to the Farm Bureau, the Jefferson County Fair Board, and the Tucker County Fair Board. He was an active advisor for the FFA and supported and assisted his wife in her 4-H projects. Mr. Wimer enjoyed farming and would have large crops of potatoes and corn and had even set up a fish farm at the Tucker County High School. He was a kind man with a fun sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be missed greatly.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM. Mr. Wimer will be moved to the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, WV, where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from Noon until 2 PM, the funeral hour. Pastor Michael Loudermilk will officiate and interment will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery at Franklin, WV.
