Curtiss Buss Obituary

Watertown, WI - Curtiss "Curt" D. Buss, 84, passed away on January 21, 2026.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Carina Schiltz officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown, WI at a later date. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family. Online condolences may be left at www.HafemeisterFH.com.

Curt was born to parents Harvey and Margit (nee Ustad) Buss on December 14, 1941 in Watertown, WI. Curt attended Watertown High School, and later, the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee. On May 20, 1961, Curt was united in marriage to Janice Knoebel at Dr. Martin Luther Church in Oconomowoc, WI. He began his professional career at Lindberg Hevi Duty Electric Company as a draftsman, and later worked his way up through the company, becoming a product manager until retirement. Throughout the years, Curt owned and operated several companies with his wife, Janice, including Tech Realty, Baseco Inc., and Truk Equipment Company. In his spare time, Curt also enjoyed buying older homes to remodel and then rent out.

In the prime of his life, Curt loved to travel all over the world with his wife, Janice, and many of their good friends. He also attended every extracurricular event that his son and grandsons were a part of. More than anything, he loved playing a good game of golf with his friends and brothers. He also had a strong love for cars, deer hunting, and Wisconsin sports. In his later years, he loved giving back anytime he could. Whether he knew you a little or a lot, Curt would drop what he was doing and help out. He also had a strong devotion to his church and his faith. Post retirement, Curt loved shopping for deals and giving away whatever he didn't really want.

Curtiss is survived by his son, Todd (Lindsay) Buss; grandsons, Lucas Buss and Ethan Buss; siblings, Terry (Donna) Buss, Philip (Nancy) Buss, and Patsy Boyd; and his dog, Mollie; as well as other relatives and friends.

Curtiss was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Buss; parents, Harvey and Margit Buss, brothers, Kenneth Buss, Timothy Buss, and Roger Buss; sisters, Nancy Buss, Eileen Sterwald, Jackie Hartman, Faye Krebs, and Carol Klug and his dog, Scooter.

Following the service, all guests are invited to enjoy food and beverages at a Celebration of Life gathering at the Silver Moon in Watertown.
