CW Swanner, age 91, of Gorman, Texas, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, March 27, 2026. He was born on January 10, 1935, to Calvin and Stella Swanner.
He married the love of his life, Wilda Carter Swanner, on June 24, 1957. Together they had three children, Susan, Tim, and Mark.
He was a natural-born leader, and a man of many talents who dedicated his life to service. From coaching and mentoring youth in sports to serving his country in the military, and later his community as a justice of the peace and nursing home administrator; his impact was deeply felt by all who knew him. He loved staying busy and working with his hands; there was rarely a time when he didn’t have a project underway.
He cherished every opportunity to support and follow his children and grandchildren in their pursuits. His family was truly his greatest pride and joy. He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Susan Hogan and husband Eddy of Gorman; sons, Tim Swanner and wife Becky of Gorman, and Mark Swanner and wife Wendy of Pikeville, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Miranda Hogan, Kendra Wright and husband Ryan, Tyson Swanner and wife Jaime, Alaina Hetrick and husband Zachery; ten great grandchildren, Jarod Hagood, Sadie Allen, Alyssa Allred, Cannon, Cash, and Quinn Wright, Kase, Kynlee, and Knox Swanner, and Aspyn Hetrick. Three great-great grandsons, Cooper and Jaxson Murphy and Travis (Teddy) Hagood.
CW was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Swanner; his parents, Calvin and Stella Swanner, and his 8 siblings.
Graveside Services for CW will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 31st at Hanson Cemetery in Comanche County. Visitation with the Swanner family will begin at 1:00 PM (one hour prior) at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Gorman, Texas.
