Cyndy A. Holzbach, age 79, of Strasburg, and a former resident of Newcomerstown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton, with her loving family by her side.
She was born March 10, 1946, in Columbus, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Grace (Kuhn) Patrick. Cyndy graduated from Pickerington High School in 1964 and went on to study at Capital and Kent State Universities, earning an associate's degree. She married Godfrey S. Holzbach Jr., who survives, on October 2, 1965, and the couple moved to Newcomerstown, where Godfrey had accepted a teaching position. Cyndy and Godfrey had two children, and Cyndy was later employed for 35 years by Newcomerstown's Riverside Manor, retiring as activities director.
Cyndy was a faithful member of New Philadelphia's First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the Chancel Choir and taught Bible school. She gave freely of her time and talent, volunteering for years for Community Hospice, which later became Ohio's Hospice, and as a poll worker for the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, to whom her family was of greatest importance. Besides her husband, Godfrey, Cyndy is survived by her children, Godfrey S. (Charlotte) Holzbach III of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Tacey Noelle (Chad) Blakeley of Van Wert; her grandchildren, Brittany (Taylor Johnson) Holzbach, Hayleigh (Greg) England, Lydia Holzbach, Emma Holzbach, Zach (fiancee, Claira Rhoades) Blakeley, Aeris Blakeley, and Sheridan Holzbach; her great-granddaughter, Artemis Johnson; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Michel and Dan Rueger; and her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her birth father, Richard "Pops" Stants, with whom she had formed a good relationship later in life, and her sister, Kennie Sue Smith.
Family and friends may call at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, June 23, 10 - 11:30 a.m. Cyndy's funeral will follow at 11:30 with Pastors Ryan Cockrill and Brad Call officiating. All attending are invited to a meal in the church directly after the service. Following cremation, Cyndy's ashes will be placed in the columbarium at Dover Burial Park.
Contributions in Cyndy's memory may be made to the Music Ministry of First United Methodist Church, 201 W. High Ave., or Ohio's Hospice Truman House, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., both addresses at New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
