Irene Helgeson Obituary
Irene T. Helgeson, 94, of Independence, passed away on December 17 at Our House Senior Memory Care in Eau Claire.
Irene was born on October 22, 1929, to John and Emma (Susa) Bautch. Irene married the love of her life, Virgil Helgeson, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on October 4, 1952. Together they had three boys: Daniel, Gary and Virgil, Jr. Irene was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Irene will be missed by her sons, Gary (Chris) and Virgil; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; infant son, Daniel; parents; and all of her beloved siblings.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Our House for all the love and care they provided, Irene's Moments Hospice team, and last, but not least, her nurse, Abby. Abby was so kind and compassionate, and gave up so much of her time to make sure "Gma" had everything she needed. She is truly an angel.
As Gma would say, "Wear your seatbelt, watch your speed, don't pass any big trucks, and watch out for the other guy!"
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 22 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father George Thayilkuzhitottu officiating. Family and friends are welcome for visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
