Spear-Miller Funeral HomeCynthia Foristel of Norwalk, Connecticut, formerly of Princeton, New Jersey, died peacefully on Monday September 29, 2025 surrounded by family. Cynthia was born on June 9, 1959 in Bonn, Germany to the late Morrie Helitzer and Florence Saperstein. Cynthia was 66 years old.
In 1992, Cynthia married Joseph Forsitel in Westport, Connecticut. Cynthia loved and was loved deeply by her family and friends. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her daughter, Sarah, and the bond the two of them had. Cynthia was quick with a joke and was someone you could turn to for advice or comfort. She consistently made time for those around her. Cynthia also had a love for pickles…for eating them and for joking about them. Cynthia worked for many years in New York City for HBO and then brought her skills to different consulting projects.
Cynthia will be remembered for her generous heart, loyalty and great sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Sarah Foristel of Norwalk, Connecticut; step-mother Irene Helitzer of Sea Cliff, New York; brother, Jonathan Helitzer (Michelle) of Simsbury, Connecticut; sisters, Eve Helitzer (Matt Temkin) of Brooklyn, New York and Elizabeth Helitzer (Almero de Villiers) of The Curragh, Ireland; nephews, Adam Helitzer (Carly) of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Charlie Temkin of Brooklyn, New York, Ari Helitzer-de Villiers of The Curragh, Ireland; nieces, Eliane Helitzer (Evan Weinman) of Seattle, Washington, Gretchen Helitzer of Simsbury, Connecticut, Kirsten Helitzer of Simsbury, Connecticut, and Isa Helitzer-de Villiers of The Curragh, Ireland.
Cynthia is predeceased by her mother, Florence Saperstein; father, Morrie Helitzer; and husband Joseph Foristel, Jr.
