I am SO PROUD of my momma. She has touched the lives of hundreds and hundreds of kids and adults over her lifetime, leaving positivity and a good laugh with EVERY SINGLE PERSON. Momma would not have a single regret- she did what she wanted, when she wanted, how she wanted. She truly LOVED her job at Portage. Everyone at that school was her second family. She was the heart...the soul...the backbone of that school. She had everyone's backs, and everyone had hers. Momma was there supporting me in everything I did- soccer, band, bowling...and finally gave in to KOMET HOCKEY!!! She always used to yell at our goalies..whenever they would leave the front of the net to stop a puck, she would yell, "GET BACK IN YOUR BOX!" For 2 years I told her it was a CREASE, not a box, but she yelled it louder and louder every time. She would dance and sing at the hockey games....jump up and down and swing her hoodie around her head when we won a huge game...she could do Gagnam style better than they did in the music videos...she was 62, dressed like she was 30, and had the attitude of a 21 year old. My buddy- my pal. It is hard to cry sometimes, because I am so HAPPY for all that she has done in her life- I want to celebrate her LIFE more than mourn her passing. Momma always told me NEVER to leave the house without putting earrings on, she made funny faces with me because "oh well, screw it if our faces freeze," and she told me never to think low of myself- the sky is the limit. I could write a trilogy of how awesome momma was. We will never forget you, momma! I love you!!

Cynthia, I will remember you always for your beautiful advice about my middle _schooler, the closeness you had with your daughter, and the love you had for the Komets. Every time I went to a Komets game, I would take a picture of the ice and ask you if you were there. Somehow, you were able to find me in that huge stadium. I will always remember you, Cynthia for the wonderful person that you are. I love you and I will miss you.

You were honest and true. I remember one morning you walked into my office and said Brown, I had to have a talk with Jesus this morning, and you made me laugh. When I was upset, you always tried to give me a different perspective. When I got sick and retired, I came in to clean out my desk. You came from behind your desk and gave me a tight hug. You said, now Brown you take care of yourself. You whispered softly, I know we didn't always get along but know that I love you. I replied, I love you more. EMILY, you were the apple of your mother's eye. She loved you with her total being. May the Lord bless you and keep His arms of mercy and love upon you.

Ms. Gaff was one of the best people to see working at Portage. When I went there about 3 years ago, I would walk into the office and go see her and just talk away. She always made me smile and laugh especially when i went through something tough. She will be missed greatly. My thoughts and prayers go to her family.

To the Family:
I was saddened to hear the passing of my friend Gaffey. We would always talk about bowling since we were both on Wednesday night leagues in different houses. Neither of us was a professional but we thought we were great as we compared our averages and how well we did.
Gaffey was on my mind on Friday just before her passing on Saturday. I never made that call and it hurts my heart that I didn't.
Rest on my friend. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Family, I know you all loved her, but God loved her best. She is rejoicing right now somewhere around God's throne.
She will be truly missed.

Wow. I can't believe this. She was an amazing woman at portage. Im going into 8th grade and I've known her since 6th grade. She always had a smile on her face. When I remember her now, I will remember her as the woman who loved the Komets. Not her sad death. I would walk passed her everyday at school. I'm so sorry for her familes lost, the staff at portage, and the students. She will be missed. Gone but never forgotten. R.I.P Mrs.Gaff <\3
