Cynthia Goodnight, 66, of Centralia passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. She was born on January 25, 1959, in Orlando, FL, the daughter of Bernard Jr. and Mary Ann (Howard) Goodnight.
Survivors that will remember Cynthia's sweet smile include her father, Bernard (Sandy) Goodnight; brothers, Gregory Goodnight of Odin, and Anthony (Karen) Goodnight of East Granby, CT; sister, Stacey (Gerry) Dirksz of Newport Richey, FL; many nephews and nieces; and extended family members, and friends.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Goodnight.
Cynthia was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and dedicated member of the First Apostolic Church in Centralia. She was grateful for her church family, and they were blessed by all the wonderful ways Cynthia blessed them each day. She was a constant support, and creative force at the Shopper's Weekly, where her work family appreciated her attention to detail and her kind, listening ear. After retiring from Shopper's Weekly, she worked part-time at Our Kids Daycare in Centralia, and the Centralia Humane Society. She was a true animal lover, valuing the unconditional love and companionship of her furry friends. An aficionado of the written word, Cynthia would often be found curled up with a good novel. Cynthia was an amazing sister, aunt and friend, who made the lives of everyone she knew richer. Though she will be missed deeply, her family and friends will be filled with peace and hope, as her Homecoming to Heaven is celebrated.
Perhaps her life could be summed up by the poem from Linda Ellis entitled "The Dash which describes the period of time between the dates on her tombstone. Cynthia's dash was not measured in years, but in a life that was aligned with what she believed in. Her nurturing quality extended to family, friends and her community. She made this world a better place with her wonder, creativity, and laughter.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the First Apostolic Church in Centralia with Pastor Jonathan Urshan and Cynthia's brother, Rev. Anthony Goodnight officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Relatives and friends are welcome to the visitation, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2025, and an hour before the service on Saturday, at the First Apostolic Church in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Cynthia's honor to the First Apostolic Church or the Centralia Humane Society, and will be accepted for her family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
