Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Imel, 72, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025 in Winfield, Kansas.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, September 24th, 2025 at Highland Cemetery New Addition. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.

Cindy was born September 22, 1952, to Celestine and Benita (Leiker) Boos. She was educated in Ellis, KS and graduated from Ellis High School on May 21, 1970. She received her vocational degree in data processing from Northwest Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School on May 28, 1971.

Cindy was briefly married to Fred Piper, and they welcomed their son Eric Piper. With the help of her mother, she worked and raised Eric as a single mother. Later, she married Rodney Imel, and he adopted Eric as his own son. Their daughter Jami Imel was born later that year. Cindy worked many jobs throughout her life. Her longest job was for 12 years at the Cowley County Jail before retiring.

Cindy will be greatly missed by her friends, co-workers and loved ones.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister Pam Hammer, brother Steve Boos (Jeannette), son Eric Imel (Kristi), daughter Jami Havner (Randy), grandchildren: Hailey Imel, Mackenzie Conkin (Braden), Jordan Imel, Jarod Havner, Mika Karr, Makayla Karr, Tailyn Owen, Tierny Havner and Johanna Havner, great grandchildren: Reese Jamison, Lynlee Havner and Ellie Havner, as well as several nieces and nephews.
