Donald Imel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hodge Funeral Home - Saint Maries on Dec. 2, 2025.
Donald Marvin Imel, 75, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born in Cortez, Colorado, to Robert Jackson Imel and Carol Lura Imel, both of whom preceded him in death. He later moved to Cardiff Spur, Idaho where he worked for Potlatch at the plywood mill. In 1996, he met the love of his life, Linda, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

After the mill closed, Don and Linda moved to St. Maries, Idaho, where they enjoyed life along the river, taking in the beautiful scenery and spending time with family.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Imel; his children, Cody Imel and Tessa Imel; his stepdaughters, Shannon Erbst and Lisa Hanna; and his siblings, Dan Imel, Bonnie Garner, and Cindy Stephenson. He was preceded in death by his sibling, Chris Imel. Don was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews and cherished his 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who were the shining lights of his life.

Family was always Don's top priority. He cared deeply for those around him and would do anything to help family and friends. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events, riding his bike on trails, hiking with his wife and family, and bringing laughter and joy to everyone he met. A devoted Bengals fan, he even painted his golf cart in their colors. Don was also an incredibly talented woodworker, creating cherished pieces for family and friends.

His infectious smile, hearty laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A private family gathering will be held to honor Don's life and legacy.
