Cynthia Ree (Humphrey) Liggette was born on June 8, 1945, to Darrell L Humphrey and Bertha (Boltjes) Humphrey, at the Victory Hospital in Akron, Colorado. She passed away on August 12, 2025, at the Life Care Center in Greeley, Colorado. Cynthia grew up on the family farm Southwest of Elba, Colorado, surrounded by love. In her early school years, she attended the small country schools of Elba and Farley. Starting third grade, she attended the Akron school for the rest of her school years. She was active in 4-H. Learning to sew, cook, can, and bake, and later in life, she won the title of Pillsbury Bake Off Champion. In high school, like most of the girls at that time, she became a JUG at the Akron hospital. JUG stood for (Just US Girls), and they did many of the duties of a modern-day CNA. She traveled and lived in many states. Cynthia lived most of her life in Raytown, Missouri, with a view of the Kansas City Chief Stadium from her living room window. She loved her Chiefs and her little teacup poodles. Cyn-Cyn and Muffy were two of her favorites. Cynthia was very involved with the Kansas City, Missouri VFW. She was Secretary of VFW 1829 Women's Auxiliary in Kansas City, MO, for many years. Enjoyed making meals and flower arrangements for many of their numerous events in support of our veterans. She was also a member of the One Spirit United Methodist Church of Kansas City. She moved back to Colorado 3 years ago to be closer to her sisters and resided at the Tabor Apartments in Brush, Colorado. Cynthia battled cancer throughout much of her life and put up a good fight to the very end. She is now in peace and without pain. Her sisters will miss her and love her very much. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell L Humphrey and Bertha E (Boltjes) Humphrey and brother-in- law Jimmy Strong. She is survived by her sisters, Alberta (Humphrey) Naill and husband Gaylord Kenneth Naill, Ellen (Humphrey) Rials and husband Roger Rials, Patty (Humphrey) Ehrlick and husband Mark Ehrlick, along with many nieces and nephews. I lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or your local VFW Post.
