Cynthia Lingerfelt Obituary

Cynthia Lingerfelt

May 22, 1957 - May 16, 2025

Cynthia Ann Lingerfelt, of Conover, passed away on May 16, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, due to heart failure. She was born on May 22, 1957, to the late Irving Reid Lingerfelt and Barbara Hayes Lingerfelt of Conover.

Cindy was a 1975 graduate of Newton-Conover High School, where she was voted "Most Carefree" by her classmates, an honor she lived up to throughout her life as a true free spirit. She later attended CVCC School of Nursing and was employed by Shurtape Technologies in Hickory until a work-related accident led to her early retirement.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Theodore and Thelma Lingerfelt of Conover; her maternal grandparents, James and Sessie Hayes of Boone, N.C.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins who were dear to her.

Cindy is survived by her sister, Samantha W. Miller and husband, Matt of Cody, Wyo.; and her beloved aunts, Merrill H. Martinez of Yuma, Ariz., Bina H. Cogdill and husband, Earl of Waynesville, N.C., and Caroline H. Jones of Maggie Valley, N.C. She is also survived by many cousins and extended family members.

Cindy was a lifelong reader who could get lost in a good book for hours. She had a deep love for the Auburn Tigers, a connection to the place where her father grew up. She visited Auburn every chance she could, always carrying her Tiger pride with her.

As her Aunt Collie (Caroline) fondly writes, "From your Aunt Collie, as you always called me, rest in peace. Love you always."

Please sign the online guestbook on the Memorial Wall at www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net. The Lingerfelt family has entrusted arrangements to Jenkins Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Newton, 828-464-1555.
