Cynthia McMullin Obituary

CYNTHIA ANN MCMULLIN Cynthia Ann McMullin, affectionately known as Cindy, was born on September 10, 1948, in Wellington, Kansas, and was called to her heavenly home on September 25, 2025. Cindy was a beacon of warmth in her community, embodying the qualities of being creative, generous, loyal, and thoughtful in all aspects of her life. She was a devout member of the Wellington Methodist Church, where her faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her existence. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 23 and the Lord's Prayer, passages that she lived by and with no doubt taught as a Sunday School teacher at all grade levels and a UMYF leader. Cindy was a dedicated secretary at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where she served for 31 years before retiring. Her work ethic was unmatched, and her achievements at the company were many. Away from work, Cindy was an avid flower gardener, a gifted piano player who began lessons at the age of five, and a keen antiquer, always on the lookout for unique pieces of furniture. She was also the keeper of her family's history, researching and compiling books to pass down to future generations. On June 20, 1969, Cindy started her own chapter in the family history, marrying her beloved husband Jim McMullin in Wichita, Kansas, in a ceremony filled with love and commitment. Survivors include her beloved husband, James "Jim" McMullin of Wellington, Kansas; daughter, Jennifer Fisher and husband Brian of Mansfield, Texas; daughter, Julie McMullin of Wellington, Kansas; brother, Brad Holverson and wife Maria of Wellington, Kansas; brother, Bob Holverson and wife Diane of Claremore, Oklahoma; sister, Renda Leith and husband John of Grand Lake, Oklahoma; grandson, Ross Fisher of Mansfield, Texas; grandson, Jonas McMullin of Wellington, Kansas; and granddaughter, AnnaSophia McMullin of Wellington, Kansas. Cindy is preceded in death by her mother, Ann (Oldridge) Diacon; father, Leamon Caples; step-father, Ole Holverson; and brother, Dick Holverson.   A visitation with Cindy's family will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in the chapel of the funeral home. Graveside services for Cindy will begin at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Argonia Cemetery, Argonia, Kansas. Pastor Isaac Chua will officiate. Memorial contributions can be given in her name and loving memory to either the Wellington Humane Society or the Wellington Methodist Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home. We invite you to share a memory, leave condolences, or sign her digital tribute wall at www.cornejofuneralhome.com. Cindy was one of the nicest classmates I had at Washington Elementary School. I am sorry I did not get to see her one more time. She passed away just before my husband and I drove through Wellington recently. Still, Cindy and I were able to be in touch off and on in the last few years, and it was a gift to know her as an adult.
I wish her family well as they cope with her loss in this earthly life.

My dearest friend of over 70 years. There are no word to describe how much I will miss her ... and how much she was loved. We had precious shared memories ... Growing up down the street from each other. Playmates with all the children on our street. School memories!! high school and college. I loved her girls from the time they were born. Had our second homes in Pagosa Springs .. Jim, Cindy, myself and Richard great times together. Travels .. visiting back and forth between our homes ... Too many memories to list .. but all as precious. Cindy, I will miss you !!! and will see you again ... Kathy
