Cynthia "Cindy" Denise Phillips, 68, of Fredericksburg, Texas, was called Home to her Lord and Savior on October 9, 2025.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 47 years, Cass Phillips; her daughters Kristen (Chase) Selby and Erin (Daniel) Hejde; and her beloved "grandblessings" Calista, Seth, and Anthony Selby, and Abner, Truman, Leona, Clara, Mary, and Faye Hejde. She is also survived by her sister Debbie (Wayne) Reed; nieces Brittney Torres, Jenny Williams, Megan Prickett, and Penelope Padilla Barcenas; and nephews Kevin Reed and Joshua Phillips; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Wanda Hanson; her brother, John Hanson Jr.; and her sister, Kim Zombro.
Cindy was born on April 26, 1957, at Wilford Hall Hospital on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to John and Wanda Hanson. She met her future husband, Cass, when they were just 12 years old while attending school together in San Antonio. The two later married on December 30, 1978, in Fredericksburg, beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in faith, love, and devotion.
In 1972, Cindy and her family moved to Fredericksburg, where she graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1975. She went on to attend nursing school and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Cindy worked at Hill Country Memorial Hospital and later at Knopp Nursing Home #1, where she cared tenderly for terminally ill and end-of-life patients.
When Kristen and Erin were young, Cindy devoted herself fully to raising them and supporting Cass in his business. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, faith and a copious amount of baked goods - a reflection of her gentle spirit and steadfast love for her family.
In the fall of 1983, the Phillips family began attending Fredericksburg Bible Church, where Cindy served faithfully in many capacities over the next 42 years. Her compassionate heart and gift for encouragement touched countless lives. She was deeply involved in Bible Study Fellowship, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), Moms in Touch, Vacation Bible School and various women's Bible studies throughout the years.
Cindy's relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the cornerstone of her life. Her faith guided her every step and was evident to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and selfless spirit - always putting others before herself and offering help, encouragement, or a listening ear to anyone in need. Her quiet strength, tender heart, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
The family will receive visitors for a brief visitation on Thursday, October 16th, from 2:30 to 3:00 pm at Fredericksburg Bible Church, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 pm. Graveside services and interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, with a reception to follow back at Fredericksburg Bible Church.
