Cynthia Scharmach Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes-Hoven Chapel - Buchanan on Oct. 18, 2024.
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Cynthia Jane Scharmach, known affectionately as Cindy by her loved ones, who transitioned peacefully on October 14, 2024. Born on December 1, 1952, in Buchanan, MI, Cynthia lived a life full of joy, love, and dedication. Her spirit was as resilient as her heart was generous. As someone once said, "The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose," and Cynthia certainly lived hers with purpose and passion.
Cynthia's calling led her to the nursing profession, where she worked tirelessly in the NICU, bringing her compassion and dedication to the most vulnerable. Her work was more than a job-it was a manifestation of her innate nurturing spirit. She loved traveling, hiking, tap dance, and golf. She was also a skilled seamstress, and the time she spent sewing was filled with joy and creativity. Above all, Cynthia cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She was a dreamer, and her dreams were woven with threads of love and kindness for those she held dear.
Cynthia is survived by her children, Lena and Ty Scharmach, her sister Marilyn White, and her grandchildren, Hunter and Harper Dunnuck, who are the children of her son-in-law, Christopher Dunnuck. Cynthia's impact on their lives is immeasurable, and her spirit will continue to live on through them. She was preceded in death by her father, James Hocker, her mother, Lila Molloy, and her brothers, Kim Hocker and James Jr.
A visitation will be held at Hoven Funeral Home, located at 414 East Front Street, Buchanan, Michigan, 49107, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:00 am EDT, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm EDT at the same location.
We invite all who knew Cynthia to contribute to her online memorial by sharing stories, thoughts, and photos. To remember Cynthia is to celebrate her life, her laughter, her love, and her dreams. As we remember her, let us remember the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "It is not length of life, but depth of life." Cynthia's life, though it has ended, continues to resonate through the depth of love she shared with us all.
