Cynthia Schepler Obituary

Visit the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. - Albion website to view the full obituary.

Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Schepler (former married name Kraemer), age 73, passed away on January 1, 2026 following a 15-year struggle with chronic kidney disease. She was born on August 13, 1952 in the village of Albion, NY to the late Clarence “Sonny” and Alice (Steffen) Schepler.

Cindy is survived by her only child and daughter her “Angel” Alison Schepler (Matthew) Cooper of Ellicott City, MD; her brothers Scott (June) Schepler of Hilton, NY and Mitch (Margaret) Schepler of Batavia, NY; her nieces Adrianne, Dianna, and Amanda; her great niece Kamryn and her great nephews Rylan, JJ, and Jacob; her cousins, other relatives, and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister-in-law Marlene Schepler.

Cindy had a loving childhood in Kendall, NY surrounded by her close-knit family. She loved living for a time at the Bald Eagle Marina built by her father Sonny who enlisted the help of the whole family. She served as senior ball queen of her Kendall Central School class. She received her Associate’s degree with a concentration in child studies at Cazenovia College, a 2-year private college in NY state. She then moved to Arizona and completed coursework at Arizona State University. She was encouraged to go to law school and dreamed of becoming a lawyer. She became a Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) and loved working for law offices for over 20 years. She worked on major cases while living in Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas, NV, including the MGM Grand fire in 1980. She was involved in many organizations over these years. For instance, she volunteered playing her flute for the visually impaired. She was also a leader of the civic organization The Jaycees.

In 1990, Cindy and her “snowbird” parents began raising her daughter Alison in Port Charlotte, FL. Cindy later transitioned to working part-time at JCPenney. She made customers smile for almost 10 years first in FL and then after moving back to Greece, NY when her parents entered assisted living. Cindy’s greatest joy and achievement was her daughter Alison, who she proudly supported as she graduated from Harvard, Johns Hopkins medical school, and residency. She was thrilled when Alison accomplished her dream of becoming a doctor. Cindy had a beautiful relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. She was involved in different local churches everywhere she lived.

A memorial service celebrating her life followed by a reception will be held at Kendall Concordia Lutheran Church 1769 Kendall Rd. Kendall, NY., on Saturday February 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM. A gathering at the Bald Eagle Marina along with a brief graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Kendall, NY will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial checks written to her family church Concordia Lutheran Church PO Box 461, Kendall, NY 14476 are appreciated.
