Cynthia J. Sheehan

Cynthia J. Sheehan, JD, passed away peacefully July 16th in Denver, Colorado surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Willimantic, Connecticut on Feb. 17, 1963, the daughter of Bernie and Nancy (O'Hearn) Sheehan. Besides her parents of Surrey BC, she is survived by her loving husband John C. Norgren, Denver and sisters Cathy (John Kennedy), Maureen (Jen Letcher) and brother Jeff (Sandra Oben) and by 6 nephews, Dan, Jake, Andrew, Charles, Peter and Luc, two nieces, Elise and Stephanie, and her faithful cat Sammy. Cindy graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School, Calgary, York University, Toronto and the University of Colorado, Boulder. She was called to the Colorado Bar in 1994. She was named an Attorney and Counsellor of the Supreme Court of the United States. In 2009 her colleagues in the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar awarded her the prestigious Gideon Award for dedication to advocacy on behalf of the poor. She specialized in defending those accused of crimes carrying the death penalty. Cremation has taken place and a memorial ceremony will be held Sunday, July 24th at 10:00 a.m. in the Daniels Cable Center at the University of Denver.
