Cynthia Jane Turner, 71, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 14, 2022 at home, with her family by her side.
Cindy was born August 20, 1950 in Greenbush, Illinois, the daughter of Merlin M. and Kathryn I. (Benson) Raymond. She graduated from Bushnell High School in 1968. After graduation, Cindy went on to obtain an associates degree in nursing and began her career as an LPN at Elms Nursing Home in Bushnell, Illinois. She loved her nursing career and later was employed at Galesburg Cottage Hospital as an RN for over 40 years, until her retirement in 2013.
Cindy married the love of her life, Thomas H. Turner on June 30, 1973, at Bushnell United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 48 years, Tom Turner of Galesburg; one son, Tom (Lindy) Turner, Jr. of Galesburg; two daughters, Tonya (Josh) McKelvey of Alpha, Illinois, and Tracy (Ryan) Kitch of Avon, Illinois; and six grandchildren, Macey and Madelyn Turner, Trent Osgood, and Kaity, Devin, and Daniel McKelvey. Cindy is also survived by one sister, Linda (Dave) Juliusson of Ellisville, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and her min pin, Lucy Lou. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Janet Karge; and her beloved min pin, Lilly Sue.
Cindy was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary in Bushnell. She loved cooking, baking and playing the piano. Cindy also enjoyed camping and spending time with her family. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
