Cynthia Ann Vick, known as Cindy (70) went to be with her lord on August 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Cindy lived a full and impactful life.
Cindy worked for 20+ years at Grafton Elementary School in Yorktown, Virginia, as a Teacher's Assistant and Library Assistant. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the students, parents, and staff who became like family to her. The connections she made through her work lasted long after retirement, and her dedication to education and community was evident in her daily interactions, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Her interests were varied and deeply rooted in her core values: friends, family and faith. Cindy was an active member of Northside Christian Church for 34 years, serving in the children's ministry and in the nursery. Her love for children and their love for Cindy was evident throughout her many years of service. For several years, Cindy volunteered with LINK of Hampton Roads, a local non-profit organization that aids the homeless and at-risk community. Her commitment to these causes reflected her generous spirit and unwavering dedication to helping those in need. Cindy put her faith into action with her countless acts of service and kindness towards others.
Cindy is preceded in death by her father, Dayton B. Poe; mother, Roberta G. Poe; sister, Beverly Joyner; and her cherished granddaughter, Salem Vick. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 51 years, Michael Vick; her loving son, Adam Vick, and his wife, Heather; her caring siblings, Danna Cox (Tommy) and Danny Poe (Kathy); and countless nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Cindy's family is comforted in knowing that her faith has now become sight and that she has heard these long-awaited words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant". The family wishes to convey their heartfelt thanks for the many calls, visits, flowers, food, and especially the prayers during Cindy's illness. Her love for others was evidenced by the love surrounding her in her final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Cindy at Northside Christian Church at 1300 George Washington Memorial Highway in Yorktown, Virginia, on August 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Family, friends, and community members are invited to join in remembering and celebrating the life of an extraordinary woman who touched so many lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Care Assistance Program at Northside Christian Church in Cindy's memory.
