The beloved Cindy Voda nee Kanak, age 67, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 16th surrounded by loved ones at Central DuPage Hospital following a heart attack in the early hours of Wednesday, February 14th. The first of six children, Cindy was born in 1956 to Rose Ann and the late Ervin Kanak of Wheaton, IL, and graduated from Wheaton Warrenville High School in 1975. Cindy married Carl Voda on October 21, 1978 and they began their life together in Warrenville. With determination and resilience, she graduated with Honors with an Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems from College of DuPage while raising two young children and nannying. Being an intelligent high-achiever, she excelled in the positions she has held through the years from computer programmer/data analyst to auditor and most recently as a banker for the past 10+ years at MB and then Lakeside Bank. Whether it was at work or with friends and family, Cindy cared deeply about everyone she met and always put others' needs before her own. She was happiest doing anything as long as she was surrounded by friends and family, and a glass of red wine never hurt. Cindy is survived by her husband, Carl; son Luke (Kristin) Voda; daughter Nikki (Jason) Donahue; grandkids Austin, Kaden, Hunter, Ginny, Carlos & Nevaeh; mother Rose Ann Lindell; siblings Kathy (Tom) Bamber, Mike (Marilyn) Kanak, Sheila Kanak, Bud (Sonia) Kanak, Kirk (Judy) Kanak, Bill Voda, Candy Voda, Ellen Voda, and the late Mark Voda; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cindy is irreplaceable and will be remembered as the most thoughtful, selfless, and loving person that anyone could be blessed enough to know. Family and friends whose lives Cindy touched are invited to the WARRENVILLE VFW, 3S371 Mignin Dr., Warrenville, IL for a Memorial Service at 2:30 and Celebration of Life Open House from 3:30-6:30pm on Sunday, February 25th to reminisce, grieve, support each other, share stories, and celebrate Cindy.
