Cynthia Volding Obituary

Cynthia Marguerite Volding
October 24, 1938 - May 1, 2025
Valencia - Cynthia "Cindy" Marguerite Volding passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, after a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer's disease. We are so grateful for the care she received from her caretakers, Lily and Nilo.
Born on October 24, 1938, in Burbank, California, Cindy was the youngest daughter of Paul Lybrand Brown and Bernice Helen Brown. She met her future husband, Kent Volding, at Burroughs High School in Burbank. They married in March 1958 and shared a loving and devoted partnership until Kent's passing. In 1976, they made their home in Valencia, where they lived happily for many years.
After supporting Kent in earning his Engineering degree and while raising their five children, Cindy earned her teaching credentials and a Master of Science in School Counseling from California State University, Northridge. Her dedication to education led her to teach English, Math, and ASB at Placerita Junior High School. She later worked with students facing personal and substance-related challenges in the Hart School District's STAR program. Cindy ultimately retired as a beloved counselor at Canyon High School, where she was known for her empathy, encouragement, and unwavering support for students and colleagues alike.
Cindy lived a life guided by faith, family, and service. She cherished time with her loved ones-camping, waterskiing, golfing, traveling, and enjoying friendly poker game nights with neighbors. She was endlessly devoted to her family and especially proud of her 12 grandchildren.
Cindy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kent; her parents, Paul and Bernice; her son, Michael; son-in-law, David Mitchell; grandson, Matthew; and sister, Julene. She is survived by her children Craig (Sandy Troxell), Karen Mitchell, Kathy Spencer (Greg), and Krista Block (Chris); her daughter-in-law Emily Olson-Volding; her grandchildren David Jr., Kendal, Cody (Hannah), Devynn, Eryn (Bryce), Madeline (Stephen), Kyle, Allyson (Tony), Blake, Elena, and Dane; and a cherished great-grandmother to Leilani, Avery, Addelyne, and Jack.
The family invites anyone who wants to share a story or memory of Cindy to upload it to https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/newhall-ca/cynthia-volding-12365080. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cindy's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at curealz.org.

Our most sincere condolences to Cindy´s wonderful family. Your Mom´s ( Gram´s) wonderful personality made this place a much better world. She lit up the day with her bright smile and friendly personality.
I had the privilege of teaming with her in the STAR Program, Wm S Hart School District . She shown with her leadership in this unique program where she led students as they helped each other cope with teen problems. Cindy excelled with her amazing ability to relate to teens.
Heaven has most certainly gained a wonderful Angel.
All Our Love and Care for your loss,
