Cyrus Walker Field, Jr.

Cyrus Walker Field, Jr., 87, of Richmond, VA, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2025. He is preceded into heaven by his son, Matthew Walker Field; parents, Cyrus Walker Field, Sr. and Lillian Field; sister, Joyce Daniels. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 65 years, Ellen Lumsden Field; children, Malinda Phelps (Rick), Lacinda Sims (Bill), Mark Everett Field (Maria Edwards), and Lorne Walker Field (Heather Slonaker); grandchildren, Stephanie Kenney (Criss), Christopher Field (Chelsea), Sylvia Sims, Thomas Sims, Nicholas Sims, and Dylan Field; great-grandchildren, Parker Bolton, Keagan Bolton, Gabriella Kenney, Elizabeth Field, and Evangelina Field; sisters, Virginia Alvis, Carolyn Wright (Bob), Brenda Dudley (Bob), Priscilla Taylor (Burt); as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Cyrus was born and raised in the Oregon Hill neighborhood, and after graduating from high school, served honorably in the United States Army and later the Army Reserves. Upon returning to Richmond, he worked for over 40 years in sales, primarily for Bostitch and Stanley. He was a consummate handyman, and in his spare time worked to renovate multiple properties, which led him to his career after retirement as a general contractor.

A lifelong member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, his devotion made the church a cornerstone of his life. Both Ellen and Cyrus served faithfully there on church committees, and he would become both a junior and senior warden of the vestry and a lay reader. Through his faith he passed on to his children those values and love. He will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

The family will receive friends 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Bliley's, 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230. His funeral will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2025, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 236 South Laurel Street, Richmond, VA 23220. Interment to follow in Riverview Cemetery.
