Czeslaw "Chester" Polak of Harrison, entered into eternal rest at New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park, Edison on Monday, January 22, 2024. He was 95 years old.
Private funeral services are under the direction of Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue Harrison, NJ 07029. A funeral mass was held at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Harrison and his interment took place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Born and raised in Srebna, Poland, Czeslaw immigrated to the United States in the early 1950's. Most recently, he has lived Menlo Park, Edison for 2 years and Harrison, NJ for 70 years prior to that. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Harrison, for many years. He worked for Federal Pacific Electric Company in Newark as a carpenter.
During WWII, Chester lost many family members to the brutalities of the war. He and his family were taken by the Soviets to a labor camp in Siberia where he experienced extreme cold, hunger and illness. When Chester's family finally managed to escape Siberia, he traveled and found refuge in Uzbekistan, Palestine, Persia, and Egypt. Chester lived in England for a few years after the war and eventually emigrated to the United States.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and remained very patriotic as he was proud of his American Citizenship.
Chester was a kind and compassionate human being who always thought of the needs of others. He actively donated to various children relief organizations within the United States and other countries.
Chester is survived by his beloved wife, Halina, loving children, Anna Polak Tosun and her husband Zeke and Edward Polak and his wife, Shana, cherished grandchildren, Julia Horvath, Zeke Tosun Jr, Khadijah Tosun, Lindsey, Ryan, Katie, and John Polak a brother, Henry Polak.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to: New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home, 132 Evergreen Road Edison, NJ 08837 or in care of the funeral home in loving memory of Czeslaw Polak. Chester's family is very grateful for the care that he received at the Home. Thank you to the staff in the Eagle Unit and the entire Home who became his extended family.
