D. Eugene Shetley

     Doris “Eugene” Shetley, 82, of Dysartsville, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehabilitation.

     Eugene was born in Madison County, NC on March 5, 1943, to the late John Roland Shetley and Edna Holt Shetley. He was married to the late Donna Shetley, who passed away in 2023. Eugene was an old-fashioned man of the world who loved being outdoors. He really enjoyed gardening and fishing. Most of all, Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family. He will always be loved and missed.

     Those left to cherish his memory include three children, Deana Shetley, Jackie Trammell (Jackie), and Leigha Radford (Johnny); three sisters, Joyce Shetley, Faye Lawson (Ronnie), and Wanda Shetley; two brothers, Bobby Shetley (Pat) and Dale Shetley (Sandy); six grandchildren, Michael Haynes (Staci), Darren Haynes (Bridget), Wayne Hall, Nickolas Hall, Jackson Radford, and Brogan Radford; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
