Dag Ringstad Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hayes Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 9, 2025.
TEXAS CITY – Mr. Dag Ringstad passed away at the age of 68 on Friday morning, December 5, 2025, in Texas City.

Born June 5, 1957, in Gjettum, Norway, Mr. Ringstad was a resident of Texas City since 1965, formally of Norway. He was a member of Pipefitters Local 211, working for Amoco, BP and Marathon for 35 years. He found peace in the outdoors, especially when fishing or hunting, and he cherished the camaraderie of time spent bowling - even achieving the rare accomplishment of a perfect 300 game. A devoted father, Dag, was deeply involved in his son's athletic career, always cheering from the sidelines with pride. A true Houston Astros fan, he rarely missed a game and loved sharing that passion with family and friends. He enjoyed the fun and excitement of visiting casinos, and he was happiest when cooking or barbecuing for the people he loved or walking his dogs. His warmth, humor, and generosity will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Knute Ringstad; parents-in-law, Wesley and Dolores Perren, Sr.; stepfather, Steve Martinsen.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Rhonda Ringstad; mother, Inger Rassmussen of Norway; son, Eric Nicholas Ringstad and wife, Claribel of Texas City; sisters, Lisbeth Mackenzie of Queen Creek, Arizona, Unni Nordlie and husband, Tjerie of Norway; brothers-in-law, Wesley Perren, Jr. and wife, Karen, Darwin Perren and wife, Dayna; grandchild, Hendrix Ringstad; numerous nieces and nephews; his fur babies, Abby, Rusty, Brandy.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas, with Pastor Joshua McDonald officiating.
