Marie Ann Ringstad

Marie Ann Ringstad, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver, passed away
peacefully at the age of 85.
Born on September 25, 1939, to William and Henrietta ( nee Vander Voort) Rose, Marie grew
up in Clifton, New Jersey, where she began a life rooted in compassion, dedication, and service
to others.
She married the love of her life, Ralph Harold Ringstad Sr., in 1960 and together they raised
three children.
Marie first found her calling in healthcare by graduating from Passaic General Hospital Nursing
School in 1960, then working there afterwards for a short time before starting her family. She
most enjoyed her job as a stay-at-home-mom/homemaker from then on. She later put her
nursing education to good use by joining the Cedar Knolls First Aid Squad in 1984 and
becoming an EMT, responding to all daytime calls as a volunteer between 9 AM and 5 PM for
years. She rose through the volunteer ranks and proudly served as captain from 1990 to 1992.
Marie also worked as a matron for the Hanover Township Police Department.
Marie was very active at the First Presbyterian Church of Whippany, where she was a member
for 57 years. She proudly served as a deacon supplying food to local families in need.
Marie greatly cherished her friends- lifetime friends from her Whippany neighborhood, her
church, and the ones she made at her newest home in Cedar Crest Senior Living Community in
Pompton Plains, NJ.
Marie was first predeceased by her beloved son, Ralph Harold Ringstad Jr. in 2010, and later
by her beloved husband, Ralph Harold Ringstad,Sr. in 2017.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Patricia and her husband Anthony Mastellone, and
Karen and her husband Joseph Cortright. Marie was a proud grandmother to Kevin Cortright
and his wife Christina, Allison Cortright, and Amanda Cortright. She will also be fondly
remembered by her faithful dog, Rosie, who never left her side.
Marie's life was a shining example of compassion and strength. She touched many lives
through her work, family, church, and service to the community. She performed many acts of
kindness that went unknown and was a great example to those around her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Park Troy Funeral
Home, 95 Parsippany Rd., Parsippany, NJ 07054. A funeral service will follow on Saturday,
September 6, 2025, at 10 AM at the funeral home. Internment will take place at Laurel Grove
Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie's memory to the Whippany
Fire Company.
