Daisy Muhammad Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gaines Funeral Home - Maple Heights on Oct. 17, 2024.
Sister Daisy Muhammad as born Daisy Loette Bowen to Ruby and Clarence Bowen on June 25, 1945, in Roanoke, Alabama. She was the 4th of 11 siblings. Her family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio when she was young where she met her future husband and life partner, Lee Muhammad. He introduced her to the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. She began attending temple No. 18 in 1966. She later registered and became known as Sister Daisy 4x. She inspired several of her family members to join the Nation of Islam including her mother, Sister Ruby. She immediately fell in love with the M.G.T. & G.C.C. class and the sisterhood. She was assigned to the cooking team although she often recounted that her mother, Sister Ruby, and the other older sisters would not let her bake anything. Sister Daisy graduated from college with a degree in accounting and manpower. She embarked on many business endeavors with her husband in accordance with the "Do for Self" program of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. She enrolled her children in Muhammad University of Islam which was adjacent to Temple No. 18 at the time. Sister Daisy would always be found holding post, helping with the cooking team and supporting the many Muslim businesses in the community. After the departure of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Sister Daisy and Brother Lee heard of the rebuilding effort of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and returned under his leadership in 1981. Once again inspired by the teachings of the most Honorable Elijah Muhammad through the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, Sister Daisy and Brother Lee established New World Restaurant and Bakery in 1985. She credited the inspiration for the name of the restaurant to the vision expressed through the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan to build a whole new world. For nearly 40 years the messages of the Minister played daily in the dining rooms of New World locations across the city of Cleveland. Sister Daisy made sure that everyone she came in contact with for any period of time was made aware of the great work of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. She was a pillar in the mosque and in the community. Her very person was infused with the teachings and the Love of the most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. To know Sister Daisy was to love her. No one who encountered her left without gaining something that they could use for the benefit of their lives. She was a genuine soul, and she gave the blessing of faith and belief in something Greater to her children and grandchildren whom she loved immeasurably. Sister Daisy returned to Allah Friday, October 11, 2024, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee Muhammad, her parents Ruby and Clarence Bowen, her sister Lateefah and her brothers Calvin, Jerome and Roy. She leaves to mourn her sisters Josephine, Katherine and Angela her brothers Clarence, Johnny and Adam her children Melissa, Antoinette (Jerrell), Anthony, Lee Jr., Calvin (Katrina), Thomas, Pamela, Hassan (Malinda), Sabrina (Edward), 42 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and fellow believers and members of the Nation of Islam. We thank Allah for the life of Sister Daisy Muhammad!
"And no soul can die but with Allah's permission - the term is fixed. And whoever desires the reward of this world, We give him of it, and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We give him of it. And We shall reward the grateful."
