Daksha Patel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 15, 2024.
Daksha Dilip Patel passed away peacefully, at the age of 79, on July 12, 2024 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. She was surrounded by her family, after a very sudden and unexpected change in health. Her life-long soulmate, Dilip, held her hand and comforted her as she returned to God.

Daksha was the light in our lives - not just the life of the party, but the party itself. She loved entertaining family and friends at home as much as she loved traveling the world with Dilip. Her beaming smile and bubbly laugh captured all of our hearts. Strangers became family in a matter of minutes. Her kindness, compassion, and wisdom was ever-present.

She was born on October 9, 1944 in Nadiad, Gujurat in India. She was a graduate of Gujurat College in Ahmedabad. She came to America in 1973, a young bride and new mother. Always ahead of her time, she was a smart, sharp woman who adapted to life in a new country with grace and tenacity. She learned a new language, learned to drive, and worked outside of the home when few others in her situation did. Those in Lima will fondly remember "Dee" - the Avon Lady, the Pepperidge Farms associate, and the Walmart cashier. But the job she did the best was being a mom and a grandma.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dilip; her devoted children and their spouses, Milan and Megan and Manisha and Doug; and 4 amazing grandchildren, Rohan, Dilan, Mira and Mali. She is also survived by family in India, England, and across the U.S. Words cannot express the profound loss we feel but we are so blessed to have been touched by her indomitable soul.
