Dalaina Ilene Chaffee, 81, passed away peacefully at St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Sunday, March 2, 2025. Dalaina was born October 9, 1943, to her mother, Mildred Chaffee, and her father, Richard Chaffee.
Dalaina is survived by her sister, Ileta Meyer; brothers, Raymond Chaffee and Dennis Chaffee, all of Norwalk; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law, Aloysius Meyer; and her sisters-in-law, Alma Chaffee and Gail Chaffee.
Dalaina lived at home in Norwalk and attended Christie Lane School and Workshop for many years. In 1994, she became a resident of Luther Home of Mercy, Williston. The family is grateful for the love and care Luther Home staff provided to Dalaina for 30 years. They were her "other" family.
Dalaina enjoyed going to the bowling alley with her mom, riding her 3-wheeled bike down Spring Street, had fun participating in the many activities at the Luther Home, and loved her coffee. She welcomed everyone with an extended hand, waiting for them to pass her a dollar bill (or bills). She tucked the dollars away in her purse and guarded that purse with her life!
There will be a service for Dalaina Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Rd., Huron. The service will be in the mausoleum near the office, and it will begin at 11 a.m.
