Mr. Dale Emerson Lantz

Dale Emerson Lantz, September 7, 1942 - July 5, 2025.
Dale Lantz of Baltimore, MD passed away at age 82 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Martha Garland; his children Laura (Cronin), John, and Karen, and their mother Darlene (Yarian), as well as his grandchildren Timothy, Matthew, Samuel, Jenifer (Garst), Ethan, Zachary, and Alice; and by his brother David.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Hazel (Schrock); and two brothers, Terry and John.
Dale graduated from Taylor University (IN) in 1964, and received his Master of Divinity from The Methodist Theological Seminary (OH) in 1967.
He also held a Master of Social Work from Delaware State University (DE).
Dale served multiple congregations as a Methodist minister for over 20 years in MI, MD, and DE.
After leaving the Methodist church in the late 80s, he joined the First Unitarian Church of Wilmington. He was installed a Community Minister in 2002.
He served for a few years as a social worker with Child Protective Services in Wilmington, Delaware, before joining Delaware Hospice where he worked as a chaplain until his retirement in 2004.
Dale moved to Baltimore in 2005, where he joined the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore as an Affiliated Community Minister. He was also active in the Baltimore Shambhala Meditation community, and as a Focusing Trainer.
He loved to sing in the choir, and volunteer in the community, teaching meditation in various settings, including jail and rehab centers.
Dale enjoyed discussing religion, politics, and world affairs. He will be remembered for riding his electric bike all over Baltimore and walking in his neighborhood.
There will be a celebration of his life on August 31st at 2:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore, 1 West Hamilton St.
