Dale Malstrom Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sheridan Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jun. 25, 2025.
Dale Rodney Malstrom, affectionately known as Rod to his friends and family, was a beacon of strength and joy to all who knew him. Born on July 30, 1944, in the peaceful town of Murray, Rod's zest for life was evident from his earliest days. He passed away peacefully in Wyoming, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Rod's journey through life was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family, his deep Christian faith, and his dedication to serving others. He was the beloved son of the late Stan and Marge (Carlson) Malstrom and grew up alongside his siblings Margene Boren (Ralph), Daniel Hunter (Mag Ruffman), Bart Malstrom, who each found in him not just a brother but a true friend.

Rod's academic and professional life was as rich and varied as his personal interests. After obtaining his degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Utah, he committed two years to a Florida Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, an experience that would shape his life and faith forever. His sense of duty extended beyond spiritual service to his country, as he honorably completed three years of military service in the Army.

Rod found his soulmate in Linda (Schott), and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Chelsea, Cameron, and Cheyanne West (Kameron), who added a vibrant energy to their home. He was also a proud grandfather to Easton, Emelia, and the late Hope Malstrom, each of whom brought immense joy and pride into his life.

An outdoor enthusiast, Rod's passions were as expansive as the Utah skies. He was an accomplished skiing instructor, finding solace and excitement on the slopes. His love for the great outdoors also led him to become a skilled white-water rafting guide, and his adventurous spirit often found him hiking, hunting, and camping in the most picturesque locales. A marksman at heart, Rod enjoyed both guns and archery, and he was known to light up any room with his dancing.

Rod's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and adventure. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. Rod Malstrom's story is not one of sorrow but of celebration-a life lived to the fullest, with every moment cherished and every relationship treasured. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind to embrace life with the same courage and passion he did every day.

Funeral services are at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1066 Big Horn Drive, Ranchester, Wyoming. Burial will be in Dayton Cemetery with military honors. The reception will be at the Dayton Community Hall, 410 Bridge Street, Dayton, Wyoming.

Memorials to honor Rod can be made to Dementia Friendly Wyoming, 211 Smith Street, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801.
