Dalia Samaniego

Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at her home, with her family at her side. Age 90 years.

The daughter of the late Jose Rodriguez and Ofelia (Olivio) Petrey, Dalia was born on January 17, 1935, in Texas. She met the love of her life, John Martinez Samaniego at a Baptismal Dance. Upon John’s return from serving the country, he gained permission for her hand in marriage. Dalia and John were married on June 25, 1955. They shared 64 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2019. Dalia was a devoted individual who exemplified her faith and love in her daily life. A faithful worshipper of God, she dedicated herself to her family as a nurturing homemaker, providing unwavering support and care to her children and grandchildren. Her cooking was appreciated by those who had the pleasure of enjoying her meals. She found joy in watching TV and listening to music, with a particular fondness for Country music. Above all, Dalia cherished the time spent with her family and loved ones.

Left to cherish her memory are her five daughters and two sons, Dalia (Santiago) Garza of Saginaw; Juan (Amber) Samaniego of Saginaw; Joe Samaniego of Saginaw; Ofelia (Eric) Byers of Saginaw; Cruz Samaniego of Saginaw; Nancy (Greg) Hoffman of Alabama; Eleanor (Mark) Manwell of Saginaw; thirty-five grandchildren; sixty seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; five brothers, Adalvarto Rodriguez, John Rodriguez, Mark “Ashmay” Rodriguez, David (Stella) Rodriguez, Edguardo Rodriguez. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Besides her husband and her parents; Dalia was preceded in death by her son, Antonio Samaniego; grandson, Marcos Torres Jr.; great-granddaughter, Olivia Rose Samaniego; twin great-grandsons, Mark David and Eric Mel Mauch; and five brothers.

Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Saginaw Valley United Pentecostal Church, 7787 Bell Rd, Birch Run, MI 48415. Rev. Kevin Leaman will officiate. Burial will take place at Owen Cemetery, Thomas Township. Friends may visit the family from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the church.
