Dallas Joseph Sonnier, a proud graduate of St. Martinville High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana , passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Dallas lived a full and devoted life, rooted deeply in community, service, and the joy he found in the people around him.

Dallas honorably served in the Army National Guard, a commitment that reflected his sense of duty, discipline, and love for his country.

He spent more than 50 years in the oil and gas industry, where he built an impressive and diverse career as a geologist, draftsman, and production operator. His knowledge, dedication, and steady work ethic earned him deep respect throughout the field. Even after retiring, Dallas remained passionate about his work, continuing as a geologist and eagerly exploring new drilling opportunities. His love of learning and curiosity never faded.

He was known for his dry humor, his steady presence, and his heartfelt commitment to his family. He rarely missed a chance to be present at his grandchildren's activities-cheering from the stands, offering quiet encouragement, or simply showing up with that familiar smile that said everything.

A man of service, Dallas dedicated much of his life to improving the community he loved. He served as President of both the St. Martinville Jaycee's and The Arc of St. Martin, roles in which he worked tirelessly to support others. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, always willing to lend his time, hands, and heart.

Dallas had a deep love for golf and LSU football, passions he shared enthusiastically with friends and family. But perhaps nothing brought him more daily joy than the simple pleasure of gathering with his friends at Dave's for the beloved "coffee club," where conversations, laughter, and friendship filled his mornings.

Dallas leaves behind a legacy of kindness, commitment, and loved-ones that will live on in the countless lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Guidry Sonnier; sons, Brad Sonnier (Kayla);, Ryan Sonnier, David Sonnier (Camille); daughter, Kim Sonnier Duplechain (Brook); sister, Louise Sonnier Savoy (James); grandchildren, Kaitlin Duplechain, Bradley Sonnier, Seth Sonnier, Blake Duplechain (Craig), Gavin Sonnier (Miranda), Gabrielle Sonnier, Trent Duplechain (Kelsey), Emily Sonnier, Andrew Sonnier, Bella Foti, Sophia Sonnier, Roman Sonnier and Koi Sonnier; great-grandchildren, Jagger Blasingame, Audrey Duplechain and Levi Marino; host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clariel and Bertha Sonnier; brothers, Edward Sonnier and Raymond Sonnier; sister, Rena Sonnier Johnson; nieces, Maydelle Palombo and Lisette Deckard; granddaughter, Clariel Jane Sonnier.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Sonnier, Seth Sonnier, Gavin Sonnier, Trent Duplechain, Andrew Sonnier and Roman Sonnier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Savoy, Robert Johnson, Mark Sonnier and Blaze Sonnier.
