Dalton Schexnaider Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James Crowder Funeral Home - La Marque on Dec. 16, 2025.
Dalton John Schexnaider, 87, of Hitchcock passed away peacefully in his home December 16, 2025 with his loving family by his side.

Dalton was born in Galveston, Texas December 26, 1937. He was an avid bowler, loved to travel, and enjoyed watching sports and staying current on politics. He spent his working life as a dedicated employee displaying an exceptional work ethic and excelling in every position he undertook before finally retiring from Todd's Shipyard. While his career was important to him, his favorite position in life was that of a family man. He was a loving and supportive son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. Dalton had a giving nature and a witty sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dalton is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Susie Alvarado Schexnaider, children – Debra Bobo (Todd), Deana Mason (Randy), nephews – Patrick and Lee Schexnaider, niece – Summer de La Roche (Marc), brother Wilton Schexnaider (Patty), grandchildren – Robert, Shawn, Ryan, Brittany, Brian, Justin, great grandchildren – Landon, Bella, Dillon, Colton, Rogan, Shawn, and Paeyton. He was preceded in death by his father Philine Schexnaider, mother Evelyn Conway, step father JT Conway, and mother in law Mary Alvarado.
The family is extremely grateful to Laura, Matthew, Tameta, Johnda, Christen, Ann, Tracy, Ginny, Jill, and Theresa of Visiting Angels for their loving and dedicated care during the last year of his life and to Three Oaks Hospice for making his final transition a restful and peaceful one.

A visitation will be on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 10:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.
