Dan Warren Florence, 92, of Missouri City, TX has passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 3, 2025. Dan was born on May 24, 1933, in Ralls, Crosby County, TX to his loving parents Earle O. and Mary Botkin Florence.
Dan attended public schools in Crosbyton, Tyler, Abilene and graduated from Ralls High School. After dedicating four years of his life in the United States Air Force, Dan attended the University of Texas in Austin, TX earning a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting in 1960.
Dan worked for fourteen years with Texaco in Houston, TX, New York City, NY, and Louisville, Kentucky before returning to Houston and retiring from Way Engineering Company after twenty-five years of service.
Dan met his loving wife of 55 years, Christine Holloway, in New York City, and were married by Burton Coffman at the Manhattan Church of Christ in New York.
Dan has always enjoyed being in mentoring situations. Early in his career with Texaco he volunteered as an Advisor for Junior Achievement (Business and Youth Partners in Progress). As his children Brian and Allison grew up Dan enjoyed volunteering and participating in their school activities. Dan spent nine years volunteering as a Cub Scot Den leader and as a Boy Scout Troop Leader serving on the Troop Committee and earning the Order of The Arrow membership. Finally, Dan spent seventeen years volunteering in prison ministry, eleven of those years as a Certified Volunteer Chaplain's Assistant.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents Earle O. and Mary Florence and his brother Jackey Florence.
Dan is survived by his wife Christine Florence, his daughter Allison Kaye Pennington (husband Cory Pennington) and son Brian Scott Florence, his brother Rodney Florence and grandchildren MacKenzie Florence, Macy Pennington and Reagan Pennington.
Visitation will be held at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Funeral service to begin promptly at 10:00 AM with a burial to follow.
Expressions of remembrance and condolences are welcome and may be left for the family at www.davisgreenlawnfh.com.
