Dan was born on March 22, 1953, in Trowbridge, IL, the son of Ernest Heynen and Violet Austin. He married Linda (Luchtefeld) Sain on July 1, 2003.
Dan was born with a gift from God. He had a wonderful singing voice and the ability to play just about any musical instrument without ever reading any sheet music. He used his musical ability early in life when he was a member of the Rock n Roll Band "Jehovah." Over the years he wrote hundreds of songs. He created two albums of his music as well as multiple recordings.
After he gave his life to the Lord he was involved in several praise bands and the praise band at Effingham Assembly Church where he was a member for many years. Dan shared his love for the Lord with many people throughout the years. He is now free of pain and singing with the angels.
Dan is survived by his wife, Linda Heynen; children, Trishia Heynen (Matt Duncan), Dennis Heynen, Jacob Heynen (deceased), Cassie Heynen (Jeff Crooker), and Kyle Heynen (Shelby Rich); step-children, Cara Bateman (Ben), Joel Sain (Dee), Jaz Sain (Kayla), and Robert Finley (deceased); grandchildren, Joel Heynen Gray, Leah Heynen Gray, Elijah Wheeler, Zac Bateman, Claire Bateman, Max Sain, Jaxon Sain, Jenna Sain, Felicity DeMattos, Kaylee Bateman, Alec Finley, and Cody Finley; great-granddaughter, Mya Finley; and sister, Judy (Mike) Poe.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, son, and step-son.
