Dan Johnson

Daniel Ray Johnson (Dan) went to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife, Valinda Johnson; daughter, Micah J Halliburton and her husband Will; son, Mark W Johnson and his wife Tess; two brothers Dean and Mark E Johnson; sister, Amy Greer; and the two most precious things in his life, his grandchildren, Emerson and Benjamin Johnson. Dan was born in Asheboro, North Carolina in June 1957 to the late Bill Johnson and Shirley Edwards Johnson. After graduating high school, he went on to attend the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill to complete his bachelor's in secondary education. He taught high school science before joining the US Air Force and attending flight school to become a pilot. He went on to fly the now retired C-141 aircraft. While serving, he also devoted his time to continuing his education by earning his MBA. Dan retired as a Lt. Colonel after serving in the US Air Force for a total of 22 years. He was a devoted Tar Heel supporting every basketball game of his alma mater. He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed being an active member of the Highland Rim Bicycle Club. He taught Sunday school and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Tullahoma for over two decades. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Tullahoma on Friday, January 2nd, 2026 from 11:00am-1:00pm with the funeral to immediately follow at 1:00pm with Pastors Kevin Ivy and Andy Stallings officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, January 5th, 2026 at 12:30pm EST. In lieu of any flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made to his favorite missionary organization, Kenya Care Partners. Donations should be made out to "Kenya Care Partners" and submitted to the secretary's office at First Baptist Church Tullahoma.
