Theonita Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Mortuary - Las Vegas on Jan. 24, 2026.
In the warm embrace of a mother's love and the resilient spirit of a woman molded by life's experiences, we remember the essence of my mother, Theonita Moore. Known affectionately as "Bunky" or "California Baby", Theonita was born on January 26, 1957, in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Her journey led her to establish roots in Compton, California, and finally, Las Vegas, Nevada, where she spent her last six years. Theonita was a humble woman who found immense joy in simple pleasures. She loved listening to gospel music, oldies, and the blues, indulging in her favorite chocolate ice cream, Cocoa Puffs cereal, and Chili Cheese Fritos, and occasionally trying her luck at the Buffalo slot machines.

Theonita's faith was her guiding light, providing her with strength and direction throughout her life. She was baptized on April 27, 2025, at Nehemiah Ministries Christian Church in Las Vegas, NV, a community she cherished and actively contributed to. She was a beacon of love, a testament to the scripture, "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." (1 Peter 4:8). Her steadfast faith and love for her family defined her. She adored her daughters, LaKiko and Donshavay, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Her love was all-encompassing, always ensuring her loved ones were alright, even when she wasn't. She was known for her brutal honesty, stubbornness, and unique sense of humor - qualities we've come to love and will fondly remember.

Theonita is survived by her daughters, LaKiko (Prentice) Cole and Donshavay Foster; her grandchildren, DaJahnay Spann, Dailese Foster, JaRon Spaight, JaLyse Spaight, Dominique Cole, Destiny Jenkins, Dior Jenkins, Caleb (Icsla) Cole, Desean Wilson, and Donald Wilson; her great-grandchildren, Isaiah Cole, Johnathan Cole, Ayden Cole, Isaac Cole, Benjamin Cole (In Utero). She is preceded in death by her parents, Rebecca and William Moore, SR.; her siblings, William JR., Duane Moore, Jacqueline Adams; and granddaughter, Jordyn Spaight. Services under the direction of Heritage Mortuary.

We invite you to share your memories of Theonita and upload photos to her memorial page. Let us come together to celebrate the life of a woman who touched so many hearts with her love, humor, and resilience.
