Dan Kling
February 23, 1941 - December 8, 2025
Dan Kling, age 84, passed away peacefully at Dove Healthcare,
Spooner, Wisconsin, on Monday, December 8, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Dan was born on February 23, 1941, in
Cochrane, Wisconsin, to Kenneth and Myrtle Kling. As a young child, his family moved to
Spooner, Wisconsin, where Dan graduated high school in 1959. Dan attended the University of Madison and the University of Platteville, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. On May 25, 1963, Dan married Karen Kaas and they raised two wonderful children, Kent and Karla. Dan's career consisted of working in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. In 1993, Dan formed his own company, ECG Environmental Consulting Group, with offices in Eau Claire and
Spooner, Wisconsin.
On October 23, 1993, Dan married Janice Wolf. They began their life together south of Spooner on 25 beautiful acres, where they enjoyed the wildlife, caring for their horses and spending countless mornings watching the sunrise from their front porch. One of Dan's greatest joys was introducing his grandkids to hunting, fishing and taking them sledding on their front hill. Dan spent a lot of time with his brothers and family at the family hunting cabin outside Lampson every November. He immersed himself in the time spent there with family and taking care of the property. Dan loved to mow and ride his tractor any chance he got. He liked to cook and every year would make his famous monster cookies to share with family at the hunting cabin.
Dan was a kindhearted, hardworking man with a great sense of humor. Dan was always up for telling stories and having a good laugh. You couldn't miss the ever-present twinkle in his eye and mischievous smile on his face.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Myrtle Kling.
He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Janice Kling; four children, Kent (Bridget) Kling, Karla (Scott) Horman, Lori (Jeff) Olsen and Lindi (Jeff) Engedal; nine grandchildren, Eric, Annica, Zachary, Jacob, Amy, Kathryn, John, Sam and Matt; and two great-granddaughters, Adalyn and Mallory. Dan is also survived by his two brothers and three sisters.
